#8 Texas Tech Rallies To Take Down #2 West Virginia At Home
In front of a capacity crowd inside the United Supermarkets Arena, the #8 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders took on the #2 West Virginia Mountaineers in a matchup that would have the feeling of a game you would see in March. The Red Raiders struggled early on, committing ten turnovers against the tough press that the Mountaineers are known for. The Red Raiders were down by 9 going into the half.
Something sparked Tech and in the second half they came out with a new energy that fueled a comeback. The Red Raiders made every shot count as they connected on half of their shot attempts and were absolutely deadly from the free throw line, only missing four of their 28 free throws. West Virginia had a tough time shooting against the stifling Tech defense and collapsed as the Red Raiders got their 4th win in conference play by a final of 72-71.
Keenan Evans had yet another big game for the Red Raiders, the senior put up 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, including going 8-9 from the free throw line. Brandone Francis had arguably his best game as a Red Raider as he finished with 17 points off of the bench, including knocking down some clutch three-pointers.
When the clock hit triple zeroes the sold-out crowd stormed the court, which is what you should do when your team knocks off the #2 team in the nation. If you have never experienced what it is like to storm the floor after a big win, this video takes you into the madness that ensues after a big win.
Up next for the Red Raiders will be a road matchup against the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, followed up by another road game against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday.
