Lubbock Police Department Identifies Woman Killed in Hit-And-Run [Update]
Update: The Lubbock Police Department has identified the victim in a fatal hit-and-run crash Tuesday night on Avenue Q as 52-year-old Gloria Valdez.
According to LPD Public Information Officer Tiffany Pelt, investigators Wednesday morning located a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban in a local Motel 6 parking lot. Police believe it is the suspect's vehicle. It was impounded as part of the investigation.
Original story: A bicyclist was killed Tuesday night (May 14th) in Lubbock in what police are calling a hit-and-run.
The incident occurred just after 11:15 p.m. near Avenue Q and 26th Street. According to police, when they arrived at the scene, they found that a woman and her dog had both been hit by a vehicle.
The woman, who is believed to have been riding a bicycle at the time of the accident, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced dead. The dog was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are now searching for a suspect in the case and the vehicle they were driving: potentially a tan colored 1990s Chevy Tahoe or a GMC Yukon.
