A Very Happy Meal! How A Texas Toddler Accidentally Ordered 31 Fast Food Cheeseburgers
Kids are awesome, even when they're not.
It seems so easy, when your child is getting squirrely it's become part of a parent's arsenal to simply hand them their smartphone so that they can watch videos, and some toddler game that mom has downloaded. However, kids are like Terminators...always learning our weaknesses and habits in order to accomplish their ultimate goal, to get what they want and make their parents insane.
Kelsey Golden of Ricardo, Texas just learned that lesson the hard way when she thought that her young son, Barrett, was taking pictures with her phone. The first sign that Barrett was up to something was when she got a notification from Doordash that her order was taking longer than usual because of the size of the order. Before long, a Doordash driver was at her door with a whopping order of 31 McDonald's Cheeseburgers, That's when she discovered that her 2-year-old had placed the Doordash order. Golden explained to KRIS-TV:
"I didn't know what to do with them, he only ate half of one," Golden said. "So I posted on a community page on Facebook here in Kingsville and asked if anybody wanted some."
Amazingly, Barrett was also savvy enough to also include a $16 tip to the $61 order. Including fees from Doordash, the order came to over $90, altogether.
I can't say that I'm surprised by this, as I often see parents out with families, who simply had their child their phone in order to distract them, so that they can keep quiet and let Mom & Dad have a nice conversation. Bad move, because kids remember things. They see Mom place an order, and they assume that's how to get food. If you need to distract your kid with your phone, maybe consider getting a "burner" phone that only has certain app loaded to it, rather than letting junior swipe right or cruise through your Tik Tok feed.
