Accident on West Loop 289 in Lubbock Kills One [UPDATE]
[UPDATE 3:40 p.m.] The Lubbock Police Department has released the name of the victim: 32-year-old Roy Cardenas.
[UPDATE 10:18 a.m.] According to Everything Lubbock, the motorcyclist involved in the accident, who was not wearing a helmet, is dead. Their identity has yet to be released. The pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred when the motorcyclist struck a pickup truck, which was stopped due to mechanical problems.
[Original Story] Motorists experienced delays during their Tuesday morning commute on part of West Loop 289 in Lubbock.
KAMC News reports that around 8 a.m. there was an accident in the northbound main lanes with a pickup truck and motorcycle.
In the aftermath of the accident, for at least an hour, police closed the northbound West Loop 289 main lanes at the 50th Street exit and diverted traffic to the frontage road.
As of 9:10 a.m., no word on any injuries or fatalities related to the accident.
