A family member murdering their relative around the holidays is always shocking, however, one Amarillo man is accused of a crime so shocking it has made international news. 

When officers arrived at the house on Northeast 14th Street, they concluded her death to be suspicious and called in homicide detectives.

According to NewsChannel 10 in Amarillo, Michael Alexander Ferguson (35) is accused of the murder of his grandmother Cecilia Ferguson. Cecilia was 106 years old.

Michael Ferguson was interviewed by investigators. Although he denied involvement in her death, police say he was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charge of injury to the elderly.

On November 26 police were called to the home where both people lived, and the scene of Cecilia's death. However, police, "noted suspicious circumstances around Cecilia Ferguson’s death."

It has not yet been released why they believed that to be the case or why they believe Michael may have murdered her.

Michael denied involvement in his grandmother's death, however, Daily Mail reports that he, "was jailed for two years in 2013 for assaulting two relatives in the space of a year."

Michael currently sits in Potter County Jail charged with Murder, Injury to an Elderly Person, and a possession charge dating from the 11/26/2024 incident. His combined bond is set at $353,000.
