We had a blast at the King Of The Cage Fights, but the evening started out with a small bummer.

Let's not forget that the Civic Center for all practical purposes was built as a monument to our survival of the tornado that devastated Lubbock. For that reason, I tend to think of it as just a little sacred. While visiting for the MMA fights I happened to notice the destruction of the courtyard fountain. Thousands of you and your kids played at our near that fountain and for some unannounced reason it has been torn down to be replaced by a simple garden courtyard. Sucks, huh? The fountain was a rather cool and calming place to go chill between events at the Civic Center and it WILL be missed. It's rather unfortunate that it was torn down seemingly without comment (I never heard anything about it). Maybe it was thought of as insignificant, or even dangerous, but it was one of those little things that was kind of cool about Lubbock.  Sorry but here's the full pic:
