Lubbock Loses A Chicken Option
Big Chicken (7411 Milwaukee Ave) has called it quits after two years in Lubbock. Milwaukee is densely populated with restaurant options, and the competition for any type of fried chicken is incredibly intense.

According to Everything Lubbock, Big Chicken had the following statement posted on their door:
After serving this incredible community, our Lubbock location is now permanently closed. To every guest who walked through these doors, shared a meal, and made this place feel like home Thank you. Your support meant the world to our team, and the memories we made here will stay with us always.

National Brand, But Franchise Owners
While I do not know if the franchise owners of Big Chicken were from Lubbock, it's entirely possible. And certainly, the employees were from around these parts. I always hate to see anyone forced to give up on their dreams, and it hurts my heart when a person loses their job through no fault of their own.
Don't Worry, There's More Chicken Coming
While the sun set on Big Chicken, a new contender is set to enter the ring. Layne's Chicken Fingers will be opening their first Lubbock location (and 50th overall) this Friday, June 13th, at 7902 University.
