Former Texas Tech Quarterback BJ Symons Was in Las Vegas During Mass Shooting
Former Red Raiders quarterback BJ Symons is in Las Vegas this weekend, but is safe and was not involved in the mass shooting at Las Vegas’ Route 91 Festival.
Symons was in Vegas for a weekend of fun before terror broke out. Symons shared on Twitter that he was inside a casino when crowds started running through screaming at everyone to run. "It was total chaos," Symons wrote.
Symons was in a ballroom when the chaos broke out.
Symons later updated that he and his party returned safe to their room and that he was fortunate to be safe as many were not.
Lubbock country singer Josh Abbott performed in the festival, and is also safe.
According to the singer, authorities evacuated them from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The hotel is also where 64-year-old Stephen Paddock fired onto thousands of people in the crowd, killing more than 50 people and injuring more than 400 others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with The Symons family, The Abbott family and the families of all involved in this senseless tragedy.
