Rain, Lightning & Hail Didn’t Stop blink-182 From Rocking Lubbock [Show Photos]
For the first time ever, blink-182, one of the biggest punk bands on the planet, played Lubbock.
We saw two main things at the show: 1) Lubbock's schizophrenic weather, and 2) That our listeners are the best and will rock no matter what.
Thousands of fans from across West Texas gathered at the Lonestar Amphitheater to watch blink-182, The Naked and Famous and Make Out rock the FMX/102.5 Kiss Spring Thing. But Mother Nature had other ideas.
Just before Make Out was set to take the stage, it started pouring, complete with lightning and some hail (for good measure). By the time the storm passed and the go-ahead was approved, it was 9 p.m. The Make Out's set was cut from the show, and The Naked and Famous only got to play a song or two. But when blink-182 finally took the stage, roughly 5,000 people were packed into The Amp. All the weather BS didn't matter once the band ripped into "Feeling This."
And of course, it wouldn't be a blink-182 show without a little cursing. The object of Mark Hoppus' venom during the show? Mother Nature. Check out that video below, plus some killer shots of the band above courtesy Khris Poage.
