Monday afternoon (Nov. 26th), the defending NL East champion Atlanta Braves announced that they had struck a one-year, $2 million dollar contract with former New York Yankee and Houston Astro catcher, Brian McCann.

McCann also returns home to Atlanta, where he spent the first nine years of his career. In that time he was a seven-time all-star and five-time silver slugger with the Braves. McCann hit .277 with Braves in his nine seasons for them.

Most recently, however, McCann hit a career low .212 with seven homers and 23 RBI in 63 games. He missed about two months because of arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in July.

If I was a betting person, I would think that this is one of those deals where McCann will retire with the team he started with.

Pitchers and catchers will report to spring training beginning around February 13th, 2019.
