CDs and Vinyl Are Outselling Digital Downloads — Even in Lubbock!
Running across this article on The Washington Post really made me smile. Who doesn’t like to hear that things from the best part of their childhood are making a comeback?
According to the article, CDs and vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011.
I spoke with Chris Strong of Lubbock’s Ralph’s Records, who told me:
“We’ve seen a resurgence in vinyl sales locally and it‘s not very often we see vinyl even outselling CD’s.”
Doug Stapp, owner of Ralph’s, also commented on the news,
“Luckily people still love physical product. Most of our young customers do use Spotify and Apple Music to check new music out and most all of them come in and buy what they like either in vinyl or cd. The younger the crowd the more they like buying and supporting. It’s a trend that I obviously love seeing.”
It’s a trend I love seeing, too! Now, if big hair would just make a comeback.
