Congrats! Now Plan Your Lubbock Event With Sober Folks In Mind
You did it! You're getting married/ having a baby/ hosting a fundraising gala/ reaching your umpteenth anniversary/ just having a big birthday party.
Late Summer and early Fall are full of local events, from small get-togethers to big public parties. Part of the fun, for some, is alcohol. But you can and should plan for the sober folks in your life.
That doesn't mean they can grab tap water from the sink, or a juice box from the kid's cooler. I mean, they can, but that makes you a terrible host to a guest you cared enough about to invite to your event.
Just because someone is sober, for the evening, or their lifetime, doesn't mean they want to feel excluded or look out of place. If you're hiring a bartender, make sure they know how to make a couple of mocktails.
If you are playing bartender, make sure you have some ingredients to put together something delicious for your guests- chances are your drinking guests will like the extended options, too. Some of us just want to pace ourselves.

Feel like getting fancy? Here is a nice long list of impressive and tasty mocktails that will look beautiful in your guest's hands and in photos. Your drinkers can just add a shot of the liquor of their choice.
Keeping things simple? You'd be surprised how appreciated a case of Topo Chicos and a few limes will be. And again, your drinking buddies will like it, too.
The main point is this: It is not difficult to accommodate a sober guest, but it is shockingly rare that people consider their needs.
Some people just need to drive or get up early, while some folks absolutely must not touch a drop for medical reasons or because they are alcoholics. Either way, I dare you to choose kindness, consideration, and the skills of a great host/ess by accommodating them.
Also, please do not ever ask or tease someone about the reasons why they are not drinking. It's no one's business except for the non-drinker and if they want to tell you, I am sure they will volunteer that information.
Have a wonderful, fun event! Just make sure it's fun and wonderful for everyone.
