Coyote To Be Euthanized After Biting 3 Kids At Texas Park

A coyote at Parkway Central Park in Arlington was reported for biting three children between Saturday and Tuesday in the parking lot and on the playground. Arlington Animal Services were able to capture the coyote on Thursday morning.

It will be tested for rabies by Texas Health and Human Services in Austin and then "humanely euthanized".

According to NBC News, the coyote exhibited strange behavior before the incidents. Instead of running away and hiding from humans, as a coyote would normally do, it walked directly toward people. The first child was bitten on Saturday, the third on Monday, and the second child was bitten sometime in between.

Coyote attacks are very rare. Between 1977 and 2015, there were only 367 total documented attacks in the United States. While they aren't typically dangerous, they should still be avoided. USA Today recommends shouting, waving your hands, and throwing whatever you have in your hands, if you find yourself on the wrong side of a coyote. It's important to make sure the coyote knows that you, your children, and your pets are not going to be a quick bite.
