82nd Street used to be soooo fancy to me when I was a teenager. New construction. Fancy houses. Nice restaurants. It had a little bit of status. Dating them felt like you were moving up in the world.

But now?

They still talk about how great things "used to be." You're stuck, wondering why the magic is gone.

It's not bad. It's just not what it used to be...

Avenue Q — The One Your Friends Begged You to Stop Seeing

You knew this was a BAD idea immediately. Everyone told you so. But you thought you could change them. You saw something in them nobody else did.

Fast forward to now: Chaos, stress, and at least one story you'll take to your grave. You made it out alive and with some important character development. That's about it.

34th Street — The Sweet One You Probably Should’ve Appreciated More

34th Street is some comforting. Familiar faces. Mom and pop shops. Zero pressure to be anyone other than exactly who you are. They are thoughtful, consistent, and quirky in a charming way.

Honestly, this was a healthy relationship. You were too busy thinking about ol' Ave Q to really appreciate 34th Street for who they were.

Slide Road — The One With Multiple Personalities

Slide is...complicated. One minute, they're taking you somewhere fancy. The next minute, you're in a totally different tax bracket. They can be polished, but they are also chaotic...confusing...and a lot.

You never know what version you're getting, but somehow, they keep you coming back over and over again. It's the convenience, maybe?

Loop Life — The One Who Keeps You Stuck in Circles

You try to leave.

You really do.

But somehow you keep ending up right back where you started.

It’s repetitive. It’s predictable. It’s slightly maddening.

And yet… part of you finds comfort in the routine.

Dating in Lubbock isn’t about finding “the one.”

It’s about realizing:

• You’ve dated every version of this city
• Each one taught you something (whether you wanted it to or not)
• And somehow…they all still feel familiar
