Delicious & Fun Ways To Support First Friday Art Trail This Month
Lubbock's First Friday Art Trail is a remarkable monthly event that's free and fun for everyone.
I remember when it was a group of artist weirdos pitching in on a keg and showing work in questionable buildings. It has grown into a polished and professional cultural event for which most Lubbockites feel immensely proud.
We are also very protective of FFAT and have spoken out loudly to support the trail. I am so very proud of us for that. And now there are some other great ways we can show our support.
Attend The Trail
Of course, attending the trail is the best way you can support it. Numbers speak loudly, and when you show up, it matters. I'd also encourage you to take pictures and post them with the hashtag #LBKloves on social media.
Attend The 'Fund The FFAT' Event
Larry Simmons is a man I respect and admire immensely. He cares deeply for Lubbock and has invested so much in our community. He's advocated for music and the arts for many years. Now, he's hosting a Fund The FFAT event.
The Fund the FFAT event will be held Saturday, August 3rd beginning at 6 p.m. at Tornado Industrial Arts (1824 Buddy Holly) and will feature live music, refreshments, and raffle items. You can get more information here.
Eat Some Great Food
Three Lubbock restaurants are offering menu items, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the FFAT.
Flippers Tavern (1406 Avenue Q): For the month of August, $1 from every ala carte Captain America Hotdog will be donated to FFAT. Flippers Tavern is an amazingly charming bar/ restaurant with fabulous pinball machines.
The Co-Op Public House ( 4637 50th St Suite #300): $3 of every taco plate will be donated to FFAT.
Note: taco plates are not available during brunch (brunch at any restaurant takes up ALL the kitchen space).
Free Range Fry House (6810 Milwaukee Ave): is owned by the same folks as The Co-Op Public House and is offering the same taco plate deal as above.
Donate Directly
Cash is king and a great way to support what you believe in. You can donate directly here (click hyperlink). You can also find out more information about volunteering there as well.
Lubbock is my home and has been for 95% of my life. FFAT makes me proud of home. And your support of FFAT makes me proud of you- my friends, neighbors and loved ones.
