Moving To Lubbock? Here’s What You Need To Pack
Thinking about coming to the Hub City—especially from out of state? Let me save you a little trial and error with a list of things you’ll want to have ready before you unpack that first box.
1. A Humidifier
The air is dry, the dust is real, and this helps take the edge off both.
2. A Nebulizer (If You Need One)
If you’ve got breathing issues, don’t wait—Lubbock air can be a challenge.
3. Dust Control Arsenal
Dust mop, broom, Swiffer, vacuum—you’ll use all of it. Regularly.
4. Good A/C (Non-Negotiable)
Don’t bring a vehicle without it, and don’t rent a place where it’s “almost fixed.” It needs to work now.
5. A Hat
You may not be a hat person yet… but you will be. The sun wins here.
6. Sunscreen
You can ignore it once—after that, you won’t.
7. Summer Clothes (Especially Shorts)
You’ll need lightweight gear to get through long, hot stretches.
8. Allergy Meds
Dust, pollen, and the occasional bite or sting—just have them handy.
9. Backup Power (If You Can Swing It)
A generator isn’t required… until it suddenly feels like it is.
10. A Barbecue Grill
This one’s cultural. You’ll want it the first time you smell your neighbor cooking.
