Every Time I Die Part Ways With Drummer Daniel Davison, Welcome Clayton ‘Goose’ Holyoak
Every Time I Die have lost yet another drummer with the exit of Daniel Davison, who has apparently been replaced with Clayton “Goose” Holyoak of Norma Jean. Frontman Keith Buckley is said to have made the announcement last night (Sept. 27) during a gig in Portland, Maine.
Holyoak confirmed he was in the band - though he doesn't indicate whether it's temporary or permanent - in a post from his Instagram account today which reads:
There have been a few people that have been curious as of what I've been up to musically lately. I Was in San Diego writing with some friends less than a week ago when I got a text. I finished the time we had writing and flew to buffalo to learn 17 songs in the 4 days I had before we left for tour. I know there's no footage of me but I swear I'm that little rocker in the back. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and cheered me a long the way! I really don't know how I would convince myself this was possible if it wasn't for you. @lexilazaro @dreudamn @johnaldfinn and my amazing mother that constantly reminds me that I can do anything. It's been a stressful past 5 days but this shit pays off! Keep following your dreams!
Last night's show was the kick off to a tour that will consist mainly of dates in Canada, with a few gigs sprinkled in the States before wrapping up Oct. 20 in Madison, Wis., followed by the traditional holiday show Dec. 16 in the band's hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. Knocked Loose and Hollow Earth are supporting throughout the trek.
This hasn't been the smoothest year for Every Time I Die. Buckley had to depart the group's European tour back in June due to a family emergency. Then in July, on a much lighter note, his brother and band guitarist Jordan went crowd surfing in Dallas, Tex. and the crowd refused to put him down. When it comes to drummers, if Holyoak stays on board, he'll be their fourth stickman since putting out their debut album in 2001.
