Family, Friends and Bandmates Pay Tribute to Lubbock Musician Martin ‘Marty’ Mata

Talented local musician Martin "Marty" Mata tragically passed away Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at 29 years old.

Not only was Mata the guitarist for popular local metal band Bastion, he was also a loving husband and father to two children and a person with countless friends and family that are truly devastated by his loss.

94.5 FMX sends our sincerest condolences to everyone suffering this loss. We asked his loved ones for help to pay a small tribute to a wonderful person that inspired everyone around him through his music, humor, and kindness. Check it out below.

Marty Mata's memorial service will be held at Plainview First Assembly of God on Wednesday, March 6th, 2022. You can also donate to a GoFundMe account for his family to help with their expenses during this difficult time.

Bastion will be performing on April 15th at Jake's Backroom in honor of their lost member. Be sure to go out there and support these guys.
