Former Texas Tech Football Player Joins Dancing With The Stars
Danny Amendola has had quite a career since his time as a wide receiver at Texas Tech.
That isn't to say his time in the Texas Tech program wasn't remarkable- Amendola is the third in Tech history in punt returns and yardage, behind only Wes Welker and Tyrone Thurman.
Post Tech, Amendola played for the Cowboys, Eagles, Rams, Patriots, Dolphins, Lions, and Texans. Since 2023, he's been the assistant/returners coach for the Las Vegas Raiders.
We all know that a successful football career involves some finessed footwork- a skill Amendola will put to the test in a new way in the upcoming season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars.
Interestingly, Amendola is joining another former Lubbock denizen who has performed on the show countless times: Travis Garland.
Garland serving as lead vocalist for these numbers is like casting the leading man of a film. Whether it’s adding grit and power to a rock-inspired Paso Doble, or flair and debonair to a James Bond-themed routine, Garland steps up to the mic delivering vocals with command presence and charisma.
Travis Garland is a Lubbock native who sang in church choir, school plays and community theater before winning a nationwide talent contest, having a stint in a boy band, and now has a busy career between Dancing With The Stars, songwriting, and creating original music.
Amendola joins other athletes, reality stars, models, and actors for Dancing With The Stars. Dancing With The Stars will begin its 33rd season on Tuesday, September 17 at 7 central.
