Get Your Taste Buds Ready: A Free Tamale Festival Is Coming to Lubbock
It's that time of the year when tamales start getting very popular. What better way to showcase West Texas tamales than Lubbock's very first tamale festival?
Mijo's, a local Lubbock food truck, is sponsoring the contest and wants to invite everyone to come enjoy homemade tamales and your favorite beer with Two Doc's.
This will be a free event held on January 22nd, 2022 at Two Doc's in downtown Lubbock. It's a come-and-go event happening from 1 to 7 p.m. So get your bellies ready.
Not only will this be a fun even with food trucks, vendors and lots of shopping, but there will be contests as well. They'll have 30 contestants battling it out to be the festival winner. Mijo's wants to see who can eat two dozen tamales the fastest. Every contestant will win a goodie bag, but only three will be crowned a winner.
They will also be judging the tamale contestants and need your helps. There will be two winners for the tamale festival: best overall, and most creative.
If you want to be a contestant for these events, the signups haven't started yet, but will be put up on Two Doc's website.
So get your stretchy pants ready and let's eat and enjoy some tamales. The actual address for the event is 502 Texas Avenue. They'll have a Facebook event page up soon and I will tag it here.
