There are these memes going around called "starter packs". They are usually done with a dose of reality a dose of humor and maybe even a little dose of meanness. For instance, the "Midland Starter Pack" had a picture of a hardhat, a Coke, a Tattoo and some divorce papers. It got me to thinking, what would be a "real" starter pack for Lubbock?  If you're ready, then away we go!

At Least One Item Of Texas Tech Merchandise

It doesn't really matter what college football you follow, if you live in Lubbock, you're going to have some Tech Merchandise. It also doesn't matter if you've never bought any, you will probably be given a shirt or some do-dad with the Texas Tech emblem on it.

    A Ball Cap

The Lubbock sun is harsh and the wind keeps your hair looking crazy, so apparently it is a law in Lubbock for everyone from college kids to Mennonite farmers to sport a baseball/trucker hat ever place they go. They even wear them in restaurants (which is pretty poor etiquette) and on dates. Especially valued are Dallas Cowboys hats and hats that have either John Deere or some kind of seed company on them.

A Six Pack Of Bud Light

Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to testify that Bud Light is the unofficial, official beer of Lubbock Texas. I don't care how many of you are saying "no-way" right now, I can tell you that Bud Light outsells everything else by at least 5 to 1, if not 10 to 1. Lubbock loves the blue and white and that's okay by me.

An Overly Large And Pointless Truck

I can't even begin to understand the amount of stupidly large trucks around. Hey, I'm a truck owner and I haul stuff every single weekend. I'm talking big loads of construction supplies and more, and my ancient Chevy Cheyenne single cab gets the job done. In Lubbock you have moms driving giant double cab, dual rear wheel, black pickups with completely spotless beds on them.

    A Yeti Bumper Sticker

Boy people are proud of their coolers here. That, or they just like free stickers. Yeti is obviously the brand of choice around here, even though it's too rich for my blood.  For $300 mine better have a stereo installed in it. If I seriously need to keep something that cold for that long, another bag of ice is just $1.75, or171 bags or $300.
