Are fruit flies invading your home right now? They get really bad in Texas during the winter. If you've noticed them hanging out in your sink and buzzing around the fruit basket on your kitchen table, you are not alone. I was over at my folk's house for the holidays and the fruit flies were out in full force, hovering above a bunch of bananas. Luckily, I know the best way to get rid of them. It's tried and true, and you don't even have to go buy traps at the store.

I swear, the best way to get rid of fruit flies is with apple cider vinegar and Dawn dish soap.

Put some apple cider vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl and then add a healthy squirt of Dawn dish soap. I like to use fruity-scented soap, like apple or orange. Then, pop the mixture into your microwave for 30 seconds to warm it up and make it extra aromatic. When it's done heating up, set the bowl out on the counter in your kitchen. You can set out several of them if you have a really bad fruit fly problem. Put them all over your house. The flies will land in the bowl, and become trapped by the sticky soap. I guarantee you will have a bowl full of dead fruit flies by the end of the day.

Just keep putting out the mixture every day until they are all gone, and be sure not to leave any sweet treats out that they might enjoy nibbling on. Hope this helps you get rid of those bad boys!
