If You’ve Never Experienced Lubbock Local Drag, You’re Missing Out
I've watched a lot of RuPaul and I've seen many RuPaul performers here in Lubbock (Detox, Derrick Barry, Miz Cracker, Kameron Michaels, etc.). I really love drag looks, drag performances, and drag queens in general.
Drag has arguably been an art for thousands of years, but it's currently experiencing more attention and notoriety than it ever has before. It's ostentatious, outrageous and just plain fun. But you don't have to see a TV star drag performer to see the best drag has to offer. Local drag is where its at.
Lubbock has absolutely amazing queens of all kinds. Amazing dancers, lip-synchers, musicians, make-up artists, comedians and more. Each is unique, beautiful and talented. Local drag shows tend to get rowdy, so if you're looking for a guaranteed good time, a local drag show is the way to go.
Luckily, there's a ton of drag events coming up around town.
At Club Luxor (2211 Marsha Sharp) there's the hilariously named "Hoe Us Poke Us" on Friday, October 14th, and then Emo Night on Saturday, October 15th. Rewind (1802 Buddy Holly) has drag shows frequently, and Bierhaus (2009 Broadway) is hosting a drag brunch on Sunday, October 30th. There are sure to be many more drag events this month and beyond, so you have every chance to attend one or several.
Just remember when you do go to bring cash to tip your performers. I promise you that the will earn it.
