When I was growing up in Lubbock, my family went to the same buffet-style restaurants over and over after church every Sunday. I must have gotten pretty burnt out on them because I haven't visited most of them since I was a teenager.

So, where'd ya go, Chrissy?

Yesterday, my parents asked me to have lunch with them. We went through a list of our old favorite spots, and one I hadn't visited in about 20 years was Golden Corral.

At first, I wasn't that keen on going. Lately, I've been all about Souper Salad, as far as buffets go. It's always so good, and I'm obsessed with one of the pasta salad dishes, you know, the one with corn in it and some kind of alfredo-esque sauce. SO GOOD...

But, given how often I go there and how long it had been since I'd visited Golden Corral, I thought maybe I'd give it a go and then report back to anyone else who hadn't been in a while.

How was it?

Y'all. It was badass.

Our server, Anabelle, was so sweet, the restaurant was clean and well-kept, everything was fresh and stocked up, and walking through there was nothing short of nostalgic.

The price was great, too. For two seniors and me, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $40, and you can't beat that.

All the favorites I used to go for as a kid were still being served. The broccoli and the cheese sauce are still in the same place I'd find them when I was little. That was always my favorite combo, and it took me back to being a kiddo.

They also had new things, like these little burgers served on their signature rolls, a larger selection of soup, a BADASS onion and beet salad, and, since we went around 10:40 am, we caught the tail end of breakfast AND the beginning of lunch. Best time to go! I had all of my lunch favorites AND French toast, because, you only live once, right?

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Golden Corral for taking care of Lubbock all of these years. You guys are awesome!

If you haven't been in a while, it's time to head over and grab a bite.
