Infant Ejected From Truck in Idalou Accident
On the evening of Sunday, August 30 around 7:15 p.m., an infant child was ejected from a vehicle after a rollover accident in Idalou.
The crash occurred on US Highway 62/82 in front of the 2 J's Thriftway store.
According to DPS, the driver of a Ford pickup over-corrected after swerving to avoid a collision with another pickup, causing the truck to spin in to the center median.
Eyewitness accounts say the truck rolled five to six times, and the infant who was buckled into his car seat was ejected from the vehicle. The child and his mom were taken to UMC with injuries. Miraculously, none of the injuries are expected to be life-threatening.
Idalou police report the driver of the pickup had been drinking. However, it remains to be seen if the driver's blood alcohol content at the time of the crash was beyond the legal limit.
Idalou police and DPS continue to investigate the accident.
