Nu Metal Band Kicked Off Warped Tour After On-Stage Incident
Islander's run on the Vans Warped Tour came to an abrupt end after singer Mikey Carvajal's "punk rock energy" got the best of him. In a video posting to fans (seen above), Carvajal reveals that his band has been removed from the Warped Tour after damaging a drum kit that wasn't theirs during their energetic stage show.
"We just wanted to say to anybody that planned to come out and hang out with us at Vans Warped Tour, we're not going to be able to be there unfortunately because we goofed up today," says the singer. "During the last song of our set, I dove into the drum kit, just some of that punk rock energy that I've got just ran through my veins, and I didn't even think about the fact that we were using a backline kit that didn't belong to us. I ended up putting a dent in one of the floor toms, so we've been asked to be removed from Warped Tour." Check out the incident in the video below.
"This is not a reason for you guys not to go and support all the incredible bands," says Carvajal. "It's an amazing year and because it's ending we are so thankful that we got to play even one day of it. Thank you so much to Kevin [Lyman] for having us and make sure to go shake his hand if you see him and thank him for everything he's done for the scene."
While Islander's run on Vans Warped Tour was brief, fans will have a chance to see them play in the coming months. The band's dates can be found here. Meanwhile, as Carvajal stated, fans should still head out to a Vans Warped Tour show on its final run. Dates for this year's Vans Warped Tour can be found here.
