Lubbock Bar Sued After Family Killed In Crash

A Lubbock bar is being sued for providing, or selling alcoholic beverages to man "even though it was apparent" that the man was intoxicated. Glasheen, Valles, and Inderman, LLP. announced the lawsuit on Wednesday against The Office Bar.

The lawsuit claims the The Office Bar provided alcoholic drinks to George Wallace when it was "apparent" that he was intoxicated and that he was "a clear danger to himself and others".

Wallace was killed in a crash in the early morning hours of Saturday in the 7000 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. According to the Lubbock Police Department, Wallace was driving on the wrong side of the road when he crashed into a family of five, killing all four persons in the vehicle including two children and an unborn child according to KAMC and a press release from the law firm.

After leaving The Office Bar, Wallace was driving the wrong way on Marsha Sharp Freeway driving west in the eastbound lanes. Due to his grossly intoxicated state, Wallace drove on the wrong side of Marsha Sharp Freeway and crashed into the mini-van occupied by Xavier Caballero, Melodi Boivin, and their minor children. Xavier, Melodi and the minor children were killed as a result of the crash.

“This case is about public awareness of the results of alcohol overservice and drunk driving”, said attorney Pedro Leyva of Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers. “Four lives were taken, and families left without their loved ones because of a senseless act.”

The lawsuit seeks $1 million dollars or more.
