Texas Tech Softball to Face Texas in World Series Championships… Again

Even with the odds stacked against them, Red Raider softball still emerged victorious out of the elimination bracket and into the championships of the 2026 Women's College World Series!

Texas Tech Advances to Championship Series for the Second Time

In just one massive evening on June 1, Texas Tech faced Alabama twice and beat them... twice! Tech was just one loss away from being eliminated from the series altogether after falling to Tennessee in game 2 of the World Series last week.

However, after a clutch victory over UCLA over the weekend and the two back-to-back wins over Alabama, the Red Raiders head to the championships for the second year in a row!

Tech made it to the final rounds of the 2025 World Series but ultimately fell to UT in a best-of-three championship series. In a huge case of déjà vu, TTU and UT are back, just one year later, locked in that same battle for national champion.

Tech Softball Crushes Alabama

The Red Raiders had to have felt nervous heading into Monday's back-to-back games against Alabama. If they were, they did a good job at hiding it.

After winning the first matchup against Alabama, 5-4, the Red Raiders put the first score on the board of the second game with a lead off home run by junior Jasmyn Burns.

Texas Tech vs. UT

In an epic rematch, the Red Raiders will face UT in game 1 of the World Series championships on Wednesday, June 3, at 7 p.m.

The two teams happened to face each other at the championship series in last year's World Series where UT emerged victorious. This time, Texas Tech is back with a vengeance.
