Texas Tech Football is once again ranked as a top 10 team in both the AP and Coaches polls thanks to their huge win against Kansas State this past Saturday. Texas Tech took down Kansas State 43-20 in Manhattan, Kansas. The victory improved the Red Raiders to 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the Big 12.

Texas Tech Now Ranked in the Top Ten

The Red Raiders are now ranked #9 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. This is now Texas Tech's best record since 2008. Texas Tech has a big test ahead on Saturday when they host #8 BYU in Lubbock.

Big Wins for Texas Tech This Season

According to the Texas Tech Athletics Department, in each of Texas Tech eight wins this season, the Red Raiders have won by at least 20 points. Texas Tech is the only team in the nation winning by at least 20 points.

Jacob Rodriguez a Heisman Hopeful?

Texas Tech's Jacob Rodriguez who plays linebacker for the Red Raiders is one of, if not the best defensive player in the nation. His name is now being mentioned as a player who should be in consideration for the Heisman Trophy. According to the press release, his numbers continued to rise during the Kansas State game.

Rodriguez entered the weekend as the FBS leader with five forced fumbles this season before pushing that total to seven with both knockouts being recovered by the Red Raiders. He entered this weekend ranked second nationally among all defensive players and first among linebackers with a 92.3 overall grade by Pro Football Focus.

Even with the 11:00am kick time, expect the stadium to be buzzing with an amazing atmosphere on Saturday when Texas Tech kicks off.
