Will A Dust Storm Hit Lubbock This Weekend?
This weather this week has been beautiful in Lubbock and around the South Plains. Starting Friday, that will all change.
A front will be moving into the area beginning Friday bringing with it an isolated chance of rain, but those chances aren't very good. Instead, Lubbock should brace for a "wind event" according to KAMC's Ron Roberts. And with that wind, could be dust. In fact in the actual forecast for Saturday, "Blowing Dust" is listed with wind gusts expected to be around 40 mph
In a Facebook video, Ron Roberts forecasted winds to pick up on Friday and blowing dust will be possible with gusts up to 50 mph.
And Sunday won't be much better with high winds and blowing dust forecasted for Lubbock and the surrounding areas. The news? Temperatures won't be too bad. High's are expected to be in the upper 60's on Friday, lower 60's Saturday, and upper 50's on Sunday. Temperatures will warm back up through the middle of next week.
So say goodbye to the beautiful days that we have had lately and prepare for dust storms this weekend. It won't be a weekend of continuous dust, but it will be dusty at times. Also look out for those political signs that may not hold up in the wind and could blow away.
