Recap by Allen Corbin
Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball released their 2024 season schedule on X, the website formally known as Twitter, Thursday afternoon as the Red Raiders seek an eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
The schedule opens up in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field on Friday February 16th against the Tennessee Volunteers in the Schreiner’s Classic. Games against Nebraska, and Oregon follow that weekend. Additionally, the Red Raiders will take on the University of Texas at Arlington and perennial power Oregon State in midweek action after the Schreiner’s Classic before opening play at Dan Law Field in Lubbock against Texas Southern.
The Red Raiders boast a welcome mix of regional rivalries and heavyweight programs in their midweek games as Stanford visits Lubbock April 1-2 while Tech will visit SEC powerhouse Arkansas on April 16-17. The Red Raiders will end their regular season on the road playing Arizona State and UNLV in a round-robin contest against both schools.
Tech will host the Texas Longhorns for a final time as conference rivals in Lubbock starting March 8th through the 10th to start Big 12 Conference action. Conference newcomers BYU visit Lubbock March 21-23 in a Thursday through Saturday series. The Red Raiders will host the Houston Cougars April 4th through the 6th. The first road contest for Tech against the new conference schools will be at Central Florida on Easter weekend starting March 28th through 30th.
Texas Tech finished 41-23 last season and lost in the Gainesville Regional Finals to Florida.
