Floods In Kerr County Reveal Serious Communication Gaps
Weeks after the devastating floods raged across Kerr County, claiming the lives of more than 130 people, everyone is left asking what went wrong and how it got so bad, so quickly. Released 911 calls show a massive amount of confusion between callers and responders. As local agencies passed information to one another, some dispatchers even appeared resistant to the changes.
What Happened?
There have been loads of conspiracy theories floating around that need to be put to rest. This video by News 4 WOAI San Antonio explains in detail exactly what happened, with no nonsense.
Things To Remember
One of the most profound things he said is that "You have to remember, the river hasn't flooded like this in almost 100 years. Lots of trees broke. Lots of debris. It's piled up on a car. There is a roadway on top of this vehicle..." He then showed a car with literal roadway on top of it, which is hard to wrap your brain around, to say the least. You don't usually see a road on top of a car.
Cell Reception
The terrible reception in the area made it a perfect storm, and many people were reported missing who weren't missing, because their families just weren't sure where they were amid the confusion.
Cloud Seeding
He also points out in this video that cloud seeding was never a factor, and research suggests that we don't even really know if cloud seeding truly works. So, please, just give that theory a rest.
This was just a tragic disaster, and we can only hope that when something like this happens again, we are more prepared. And, we have to hope and pray that the powers that be are doing everything they can to ensure this doesn't happen again.
