Why New Deal Band Boosters Is Not Serving Food at the Fair This Year
I have a special place in my heart for New Deal; it's where my Aunt lives, and where my mom went to high school. It's important to my family, and we've made many memories there. Rising Costs and a Need for Volunteers
According to a post made in the New Deal Band Booster's Facebook group, the decision was made with a heavy heart and after careful consideration. I really respect how candid and transparent they were with their reasoning: "With the rising cost of insurance, expenses, and the many hours of manpower required to operate the Lions Den, the difficult decision was made to discontinue it."The post went on to thank everyone for their hard work in previous years and the memories that will last a lifetime.

New Deal Community Responds
There were several comments full of memories and gratitude for past volunteers and everyone who worked so hard on the project for decades. I particularly like this comment:
I started working in the Lion’s Den back in the ‘70’s when I was in middle school, then in high school. I continued volunteering with the next generations of kids and then grandkids. I had the pleasure of working with so many great friends & families.
I also really like this one: "Because of the Lions Den I was able to meet Randy Travis." Heck yes, that's awesome.
I know we all want the fair to stay the same fair we grew up with, especially when it comes to the amazing local community that makes the fair what it is. I'm hoping that perhaps the Lion's Den can find a way to return in the near future.
