If you’ve ever found yourself guzzling down a Coke so crisp it feels like a religious experience, there’s a decent chance it didn't come from a restaurant or a gas station. Nope — you were more than likely sitting in the drive-thru line of Headhunters, a store known for vapes, smokers' accessories, cannabis leaf ashtrays, and, apparently, the most delicious fountain drink in Lubbock (perhaps, all of Texas).

Really? The Head Shop?

Yep. It sounds like a joke, but it's true. Between the wall of glass pipes and the clouds of patchouli, Headhunters is secretly operating what must be the most elite soda and ice operation in Lubbock. I'm telling ya.

The Drinks

The Cokes at Headhunters don't just taste like heaven, they seem to have been, in fact, blessed by the angels of carbonation. Not too bubbly. Not too syrupy. Goldilocks Style: just right.

The Ice

And that ice? Crunchy perfection. It fixed bad moods, hangovers, and nervous anxiety before last-minute mystery meetings with your boss. "Is this about when he caught me picking my nose at the coffee maker? Or did he find the kitten in my desk drawer..."

All I'm saying is the ice cures existential dread better than any antidepressant I've ever been prescribed. Trust me. It's been way more than a handful.

Is It The Machines???

But, in all seriousness, is it the machines? Or is it the peace, love, hippy-dippy overall vibe of the store? Maybe Headhunters simply understands the importance of properly quenching cotton-mouth and really goes out of their way to make sure all the stars align for their customers. If that's the case, then Good show, guys.

I'm Right And You Know It...

It’s time we all admit it: the best fountain drink in Lubbock comes from none other than a headshop, and that headshop is Headhunters. If you're not much of a smoker, you've probably never stopped by for a soda. I challenge you to pop by and have a sip, and then let me know what you think.

Drop me a comment below this article on Facebook if you agree, or tell me who in town you think has a better fountain drink if you disagree! I'm up to try them all! And, as always, keep scrolling for more Lubbock-based fun in the galleries below...
