What Is iWatchTexas?

iWatchTexas is a statewide reporting system that allows people to flag suspicious activities that may indicate criminal behavior, potential terroristic threats, or concerns related to school safety.

Reports can be submitted in three ways:

  • Through the free iWatchTexas mobile app

  • Online at iwatchtx.org

  • By calling 1-844-643-2251

Submitting a tip typically takes less than five minutes. Once received, trained law enforcement analysts review the information. Reports are confidential, and while contact information is optional, providing it can help investigators follow up if more details are needed.

What Should Lubbock Residents Report?

DPS stresses that many serious crimes are preceded by warning signs that someone may notice but hesitate to report.

Examples of suspicious activity include:

  • Threatening comments about harming others

  • Social media posts referencing potential school violence

  • Online accounts promoting vandalism, sabotage, or arson

  • Individuals asking detailed questions about building security procedures

  • Requests for sensitive materials such as security plans or restricted access information

  • Unusual purchases of materials that could be used to construct weapons

  • Photographing or recording security checkpoints, surveillance cameras, or restricted areas without a clear reason

Not for Emergencies

Officials emphasize that iWatchTexas is not intended for emergencies. If there is an immediate threat or a situation requiring urgent response in Lubbock, residents should call 911.

Free to Download

The iWatchTexas app is available at no cost for both Apple and Android users. DPS encourages Texans to download it before a situation arises, so it is readily available if something concerning is observed.
