Lubbock K9 Officer Shot in Early Morning Pursuit of Suspect
The Lubbock Police Department has released some information regarding an early morning incident that took place on Tuesday (August 20th) and ended in a K-9 officer and a suspect being shot.
According to the release, LPD officers responded to a shots fired call, which led to a pursuit of a suspect who tried to evade police. The pursuit ended at 42nd and Avenue N, where the suspect shot a K-9 assisting in the chase. A police officer returned fire and shot the suspect, who was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The K-9 is said to be "okay" after being taken to an emergency veterinarian for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
