Living in the 806 is a bit of an emotional journey, and well, it's not exactly always a linear one. Whether you moved here for college, were born here, or somehow ended up here, eventually most of us will cycle through the five stages of acceptance.

It all starts with denial. "I'll just be here for school, and then I'm gone..." which eventually dips into frustration, "Why does it seem like the weather is personally attacking me?", which ultimately takes you to this weird moment, you realize that you kind of love it here.

It's almost like grief, but instead of mourning an actual person, you're kind of just mourning the hopes and dreams you had of living somewhere with water, or mountains, or trees, or...well...any signs of life...

Don't Worry, Friends

Lubbock ain't perfect, but the rest of the world ain't either. After the final stage, you'll truly start to appreciate this city for all of its quirks, beautiful sunsets, and yes, the chaos. Don't be surprised if you find yourself missing this place if you ever do make it out alive. We'll still be here to greet you when you come crawling back.
