I foolishly made a bet with my husband that my stubborn Taurus heart won't let me lose.

I bet him I could forgo sweets until the end of May. So far, so good; not much has tempted me (although I was sure I would be weak around ice cream).

However, there is only one thing I have been intensely craving- a really fresh, fluffy, and locally made donut. Mmm...donut.

And with the recent hype and love around a long-running local donut shop, the struggle has been real for me. I know where I'm going June 1st, first thing!

A Local Lubbock Favorite For 15+ Years

City Donuts, located at 2245 19th St. near Lubbock High (once a Westener, always a Westener!) has been getting glowing reviews and recommendations online. I particularly love this recent one:

Hands down, no contest, THE BEST DONUTS in Lubbock! It’s a small family business run by the loveliest people, and the donuts they make are DELICIOUS!!

The review goes on to gush about the quality of individual items, including the apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, cake donuts, and filled donuts. Here's another great review:

Best donut place in Lubbock! Really friendly service, and it feels very nostalgic when you walk in! Very good donuts and other foods as well! Never ordered a bad thing from them - everything is amazing!

Beyond these glowing Google reviews, City Donuts is also constantly recommended in local food groups for the service, quality, and value of their donuts.

Here's a look at City Donuts' incredible sweets and treats. I'm going to hit City Donuts like a ton of bricks- once I've won my bet. In the meantime, I can still enjoy their Texas breakfast staple, kolaches. Yum!
