You don’t really notice Lubbock when you live here. You just kind of exist in it. You complain about the wind, rotate through the same restaurants, and swear you’re going to move “one day", just like the rest of us.

And then you actually leave.

That’s when it gets weird.

Suddenly, you realize not every place has skies like this. Lubbock sunsets aren’t just “pretty". They’re full-on main character vibes. Big, loud, unapologetic skies that make you stop what you’re doing and stare at the majesty of it all.

You also start noticing how easy everything was. Nothing was ever really that far. In fact, it was cake. Fifteen minutes could get you across town, and you always knew a back way to avoid whatever cruddy traffic situation was going down. Try that in a bigger city, and you’ll end up lost rather quickly.

And then there’s the people.

Lubbock has this way of making strangers feel familiar. You’ll miss the random conversations and silly little moments. You'll even miss the people who told you to “just move” when you complained about literally anything.

Food-wise, you’ll catch yourself craving something specific that you can’t quite explain to anyone else. Mainly tacos...but Lubbock-style. Just isn't the same elsewhere. (Pretty sure we have the best.)

And maybe the strangest part? You'll miss the wind. You hate it when you’re here. You really hate it. But after you’ve been gone a while, a calm, still day in another city just doesn't feel the same. You'll miss the breeze whipping through your hair from time to time.

Something will feel like it's missing. Turns out, it's Lubbock.
