A Lubbock man was arrested on Saturday (Sept. 14) for assaulting the pastor of a local church. KAMC News reports that the assault occurred at the Iglesia Bautisto Templo church at 4810 Avenue P.

A police report claims that 33-year-old Antonio Lopez, who is allegedly homeless, became violent while confronting the pastor about an unspecified issue. When police arrived, the pastor and three other church-goers were holding Lopez to the ground.

The pastor told police that Lopez had assaulted him and others with a metal rod. Lopez was arrested at the scene and has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault. He’s being held in the Lubbock County Jail on bonds totaling $20,000.
