Lubbock Police Department issued a press release on Friday, May 8th, regarding a shooting that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th, which left one person dead.

According to LPD, officers responded to a call in the 1700 block of 30th street, near Ave Q. The call was reported to be a "shots fired" incident.

After arriving on the scene, officers located 28-year-old Cody Moreno in his vehicle. EMS pronounced Moreno deceased.

Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is still investigating this case and at this time, and no arrests have been made.
