The search for a Lubbock man that is said to have shot at an officer during a chase continues.

At around 5:50 a.m. on January 18th, Lubbock Police were called in reference to a vehicle burglary that was happening in the 4700 block of 45th Street. When an officer arrived on scene, he located the suspect vehicle attempted to perform a traffic stop.

Garcia failed to pull over, and a short pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, police say that 20-year-old Joshua Tyler Garcia, who was the front passenger in the vehicle, opened fire on the officer. The officer's vehicle was struck and disabled, but the officer wasn't injured. Video posted to LPD's Facebook page shows what's presumed to be Garcia leaning out of the suspect vehicle and firing multiple shots at the pursuing officer.

A bit after this, the vehicle was found abandoned in the 3900 block of 36th Street. It's said that Garcia and the driver of the car fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle has yet to be identified by police.

Anyone who has any information on Garcia's whereabouts are asked to call 911 or Crime Line at 741-1000. All callers to Crime Line can remain anonymous. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Garcia's arrest.

Garcia, pictured above, stands at around 5'10", weighs around 115 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say that anyone who is found to be hindering the apprehension of Garcia is subject to felony charges for their actions.
