I went out of town on vacation for the 4th of July. When I returned, I was disturbed to find a bullet hole in my guest room window and a bullet lodged in the door frame across the room.

It was probably a stray from someone shooting off a gun during a 4th of July celebration, unless, of course, my cats have been going hard out there in the streets and pissed off the wrong person.

The bullet hole is about 21 inches off the ground. I only hope it was shot at our house unintentionally. Maybe it ricocheted off of something else outside and ended up there? I don't have a clue. I understand that accidents happen and people like to shoot their guns off like idiots at parties, but it's still pretty unsettling. I'm not exactly sure what to do about it.

The guest room mainly belongs to my kitties, but when I asked them what happened, neither one came forward with any information. They did, however, look incredibly suspicious. Could they perhaps owe money to the wrong cat boss? Did a catnip deal go wrong while I was on vacation?

Whatever happened, I don't like it. I know I'm not the only person that dealt with a stray bullet in Lubbock from the 4th of July festivities. I'm just glad no one was hurt. I don't live in a bad part of town or anything. I actually love my house, but it's on the corner of a very busy street. My neighbor's house was actually creamed by a drunk driver a few months ago. Maybe it's time to start looking for a new spot.
