Lubbock is known for being one of the friendliest cities in Texas, but according to, compassion is something our community is lacking.

A recent analysis by the personal finance website has determined that Lubbock could do better when it comes to caring, ranking the city 84th overall out of 100 of America's largest cities.

Lubbock ranks 95th in ‘Caring for the community,' 54th in ‘Caring for the Vulnerable,' and 34th in ‘Caring in the workforce.'

"Caring means having a connection with others and being concerned for their wellbeing. And it can be expressed in multiple ways — from helping an elderly person cross the street to fighting a house fire. But certain parts of America put this into practice more than others," reads the study.

It continues: "WalletHub compared the 100 largest cities across 39 key indicators of a compassionate spirit. Our data set ranges from share of sheltered homeless persons to number of volunteering hours per capita to share of income donated to charity."

WalletHub compared the 100 most populated cities across three key dimensions: 1) Caring for the Community, 2) Caring for the Vulnerable and 3) Caring in the Workforce.
