Lubbock’s Ann Taylor Store Closes Due to COVID-19 Bankruptcy
It's sad to see that Lubbock's Ann Taylor store at 8201 Quaker Avenue in the Kingsgate Center South has officially closed their doors following a bankruptcy filing by Ascena Retail Group, their parent company, according to USA Today.
The Ascena Retail Group, which owns several retail stores including Lane Bryant, Loft and Ann Taylor, filed for COVID-19 bankruptcy protection in July. This big retailer has planned to shutter as many as 1,600 of their Lane Bryant and Ann Taylor stores across the country. Our Ann Taylor store closed its doors on July 19th, according to Lubbock in the Loop.
Ascena Retail Group also is the parent company for Loft stores. There is a Loft store in the Kingsgate Center just a few doors away from the former Ann Taylor store. A quick call to them brought good news. They are open and don't anticipate being closed down.
We also reached out to our Lubbock Lane Bryant store located at 6076 Marsha Sharp Freeway in the Canyon West Shopping Center. We were relieved to be told that they were not affected by the store closings and would remain open.
It's sad to lose our Ann Taylor store. They had their own unique niche and there's nothing else quite like it. We're glad to know that at least our Loft and Lane Bryant stores have not been affected so far. We hope they'll be able to hold on.
