Jimenez y Friends are no strangers to accolades from prestigious sources. They were recently listed among the top 50 best tacos in Texas by Texas Monthly- which takes Texas cuisine very seriously.

Now they have yet another source of pride: they are now a USA Today Restaurant of the Year for 2025.

You would think this amount of attention from the most elite foodies would go to someone's head. But I can assure you that the family that makes Jimenez y Friends so special are the nicest people in Lubbock, Texas.

And it's a kindness that transcends normal positive customer service. The "friends" in Jimenez y Friends includes their customers, who they treat like family. They are also extremely active in supporting other local, family-run businesses.

They've even gone so far as to make a local DJ cry happy tears because they hung up her article in their restaurant (luckily I made it to my car first).

Of course, when you are hungry, a place having awards and being nice are probably not your first criteria in selecting a restaurant. You probably want something delicious, generous, satisfying, and affordable- all made with high-quality ingredients and served with a smile.

That's Jimenez y Friends, too.
