‘The Punisher’ Gets an Assist From Metallica in First Full Trailer
If you were hoping The Punisher arrived guns-blazing, head-banging and Bernthal-brooding, today’s your day. Marvel’s Netflix spinoff released an action-packed first full trailer, raiding the music library once more to the sweet sounds of Metallica.
Where The Defenders splurged on Nirvana, Marvel’s first formal Punisher trailer loads up to the tune of Metallica’s “One,” skewing about as hyper-macho as we can make this thing. Still no flippin’ premiere date just yet, so you have to imagine they’re saving something for New York Comic-Con. In the meantime, here’s your synopsis:
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
Elsewhere, Marvel’s Netflix Punisher will feature Deborah Ann Woll back as Karen Page, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as “Micro,” Westworld alum Ben Barnes as Frank’s Special Forces friend (and future Jigsaw) Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, Daniel Webber as Lewis Walcott, Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, Paul Schulze as Rawlins, Jaime Ray Newman as Micro’s wife Sarah Lieberman and Michael Nathanson as Sam Stein.
We’ll hear more on Marvel’s Netflix Punisher from New York Comic-Con, so stay tuned for the latest.
