Military Aircraft Crashes Into A Texas Residential Neighborhood
Aside from damaging three homes, displacing residents, and seriously injuring two pilots, the city of Lake Worth, Texas is very lucky that a military plane crash yesterday morning in the middle of town wasn't worse.
On September 19th, between the 4000 blocks of Tejas and Dakota, two pilots got into a situation that required them to physically eject themselves from their plane. One pilot's parachute was caught in power lines after the ejection. The other was found nearby and both of them were taken to the hospital, where they are now in stable condition.
The minor injuries treated on-site are simply amazing, based on where the plane actually crashed. Three homes were damaged badly, leading you to believe the scene was not pretty. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined and an investigation is underway to find out exactly what went wrong
Lubbock experienced a similar residential area plane crash in October of 2020 when a small Cessna out of New Mexico went down in a residential area near the airport. The pilot didn't make it out alive.
Much like a drunk driver careening into your home unannounced, there isn't much we can do about unexpected plane crashes, except for hope that we aren't the victim of one. Luckily, plane crashes such as these are not a very common occurrence, so try not to walk about staring at the sky. The odds it will happen to you are very slim, and on the off chance it does, good luck.
