A natural gas leak caused several homes to be evacuated in West Lubbock last week.

Lubbock Fire Rescue says that firefighters were called the 6400 block of 31st Street on Friday, June 28th, at around 11:20 p.m.

Repair technicians with Atmos Energy were also called to the scene and Milwaukee Avenue from 30th to 34th Street was temporarily shut down.

Five houses had to be evacuated and power to four of those homes were shut off as a precaution.

Power and gas services were eventually restored to the area after the source of the gas leak was evaluated and repaired.
