After the recent announcement that Texas will be 100 percent open for business as of March 10th, Lubbock's favorite comedy group, Laugh Hub City, will be hosting its first open mic night of the year.

The show goes down Wednesday, March 10th at The Lantern Tavern. Sign-ups begin at 9 p.m., and the show starts at 10 p.m.

If you've never been to a local comedy night, then maybe 2021 is the year for you to check it out. Not only does Lubbock have some of the funniest stand-up comedians around, but they're also an incredibly nice group of people that encourage new folks to come up and try their hand at telling jokes.

I wouldn't be working at 94.5 FMX if it wasn't for the local comedians of Laugh Hub City. The first jokes I ever told on stage were in front of all of them, and their encouragement is what made me keep going back to run my mouth night after night.

I started doing stand-up as almost a form of therapy. I had just left a terrible relationship and decided I could either laugh or cry about it. I chose to laugh, and I haven't looked back. It's made all the difference in my life and landed me this sweet gig on the radio. Can't beat that.

So if you have a funny bone in your body and want to show the world or just want to hear some jokes with your pals, come check out the show this Wednesday, and be sure to follow Laugh Hub City on Facebook for updates on future shows.
